Who is the treatment suitable for?

Chinese acupuncture is suitable for everyone! Since it is a treatment using only natural methods, without external substances and without side effects, it is also suitable for:

  • Infants and children starting from two months old (and even younger)

  • Pregnant women

  • People with allergies and various sensitivities

  • And more

Unlike medical treatments, acupuncture strengthens the good and does not fight the bad.

The acupuncture is personalized for the patient, according to their needs, goals, and objectives set at the beginning of the treatment. At the end of the treatment, the body is equipped with tools and strength that will help it deal with pain, illnesses, and issues in the future.

How does acupuncture work?

Every treatment begins with a diagnosis. The diagnosis is done through a conversation with the patient, a physical examination, pulse checking, and observing the patient's tongue. The selection of the correct acupuncture points is crucial for the success of the treatment and should always be performed by a certified practitioner. If the treatment is preventive, we diagnose the weak organs in the body that need strengthening.

When dealing with a patient suffering from a disease, pain, or similar issues, an accurate diagnosis of the cause of the problem is required. For example, Chinese medicine identifies eight different causes for asthma. Each cause is treated with a different acupuncture approach.

Treatment – inserting very fine, disposable needles for a varying period depending on the problem or goal the patient seeks. The duration of the acupuncture and the size of the needles vary depending on the patient's age. For infants and children, the needles are inserted for only three to four seconds.

The treatment is painless. The selection of acupuncture points is always made according to the diagnosis and often involves points far from the source of the problem.

Each treatment lasts about an hour, including setting expectations and tasks for the patient to take home (lifestyle changes, diet, etc.). The treatment is short-term, typically involving eight to twelve sessions. Improvement can be felt during the acupuncture treatment.

Over 25 years as a certified practitioner of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture, I have treated thousands of people, infants, children, and adults. For them, acupuncture was often a healing, relieving, strengthening treatment that changed and improved their quality of life over time.

I support my patients and am available to them between treatments and after, guiding them on their journey to healing, relief, and the strengthening of both body and mind.

What is acupuncture?

Chinese acupuncture (acupuncture) is a treatment method that has been researched and tested for thousands of years and is one of the four pillars of Chinese medicine. The treatment has been scientifically proven to be medically effective, as I will explain here later.

Chinese acupuncture is a treatment for both the body and the mind, which helps treat, heal, and prevent diseases, relieve pain, strengthen the immune system, balance the body, alleviate symptoms, restore, and promote natural healing processes.
The treatment is based on inserting very fine, sterile, disposable needles into "acupuncture points." These points are located on channels ("meridians") in the human body. There are 365 classical acupuncture points.

I believe that this treatment method is the fastest, most effective, and efficient way to treat pain, various physical and mental health problems, prevent diseases, and balance and strengthen the body and immune system.

As a certified expert in Chinese medicine for over 25 years, I have learned that this treatment often provides an efficient and quick solution, even for issues that conventional medicine cannot address.

Why are there different points on each meridian?

For example, the lung meridian is a meridian that contains 11 different acupuncture points, each of which activates something related to the lungs. For instance, if someone has a dry cough or if someone has a cough with a lot of phlegm – in both cases, the lungs are weak, but in one case, we would want to add moisture to the lungs, and in the other, we would want to dry the lungs.

Since lung weakness affects other internal organs, some of the points on the lung meridian can connect to other internal organs and influence them as well.

The selection of acupuncture points is the great art of the acupuncturist, and it is what can determine the level of the treatment's effectiveness.

"The gym for body and mind"

Chronic pain, medical and mental issues, all of these impact and affect every aspect of life and harm our quality of life.

Just like in the gym, strengthening is the name of the game in Chinese medicine. Chinese acupuncture builds and strengthens, trains the body to overcome challenges, and helps it find natural solutions within itself.

Chinese medicine views the human body as a whole, without separating the body and mind. Organs in the body are responsible for the functioning of both the body and the mind. Therefore, acupuncture is seen as a natural and effective way to treat anxiety and depression, without the use of medication.

Like a remote light switch that turns on the light in a room, acupuncture at the right points activates the flow of life energy (the "Qi") in the energy channels (meridians) and affects distant organs. The correct selection of points by the expert practitioner has a decisive impact on the success of the treatment.

In Chinese medicine, we strengthen the immune system, balance and build both the body and the mind. Acupuncture by a Chinese medicine expert leads to a significant change in how the body handles pain and medical issues, even in the future. The practitioner, like a coach in the gym, energizes the organ that requires treatment and "teaches" the body how to overcome future problems.

This is a goal-focused, short-term, time-limited, and personalized treatment.

Acupuncture or conventional medicine?

In recent years, conventional Western medicine is increasingly turning to complementary medicine, with Chinese medicine at the forefront.

Recently, the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) issued a guideline encouraging doctors to recommend acupuncture for pain sufferers before resorting to medications and painkillers. Often, patients come to me for acupuncture treatment after having given up, having received no answers from conventional medicine.

Unlike conventional medicine, which treats the "bad" with external agents (antibiotics, painkillers, etc.), Chinese medicine strengthens the good, and it is the most effective treatment for pain today.

Chinese acupuncture is not suitable for emergency medicine, in life-threatening situations (heart attack, stroke, fractures, etc.), but in cases of rehabilitation and recovery from heart attacks, strokes, orthopedic or neurological issues, or strengthening during chemotherapy treatments and coping with oncological diseases, strengthening before surgery, and similar situations – a combined treatment of conventional medicine with Chinese medicine is the ideal treatment.

Recognizing the effectiveness of the method, acupuncture is now integrated into hospitals in pain clinics, oncology departments, orthopedic departments, orthopedic emergency units, dialysis units, and more. As an expert, experienced practitioner, I have learned the benefits of conventional medicine, and I often work in combination and collaboration with it.

If there is a field in Chinese medicine that we all recognize by name, it is acupuncture. Chinese acupuncture is a very ancient practice based on the assumption that our body strives for balance. A significant amount of attention is given to the flow of Qi, meaning energy, harmony, and so on. Today, acupuncture is integrated as a complementary treatment in many cases. It is recognized by health organizations, and doctors often recommend it. Therefore, if you are suffering from a medical issue and need help that does not come from Western medicine, it’s worth considering acupuncture. Looking for an acupuncturist with many years of experience? Want to be sure that a serious and skilled professional is treating you? Reach out to Yosi Levi.

The starting point of Chinese acupuncture is the assumption that we have over 2,000 acupuncture points in the body, connected to each other by pathways, or more commonly known as meridians. These points actually function like pipes. When the acupuncturist inserts needles into these pathways, it improves the flow of energy. In this way, the body restores its energy and can heal itself naturally. There are many cases where acupuncture can be recommended. For example, when people suffer from chronic pain and are looking for relief, they can find help through acupuncture. Additionally, it often happens that people dealing with mental challenges can also feel relief through acupuncture.

Once and for all: Does acupuncture hurt?

Many people think of acupuncture as a healing option but fear the treatment itself. They fear that inserting the needles is painful. However, it’s important to know: in reality, most patients report feeling calm and peaceful during the treatment. Additionally, the needles remain in place for a relatively short time, as the treatment usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. Want to try the wonders of acupuncture and feel relief today? "When it comes to Chinese acupuncture, there are many recommendations. Naturally, since the status of acupuncture has changed, there are now many more acupuncturists to choose from. However, as is the case in other medical fields, we also see that in acupuncture, there are better professionals than others. Therefore, when looking for recommendations for acupuncturists, check who the recommenders are, how reliable they are, and whether the recommendations come from people who have actually undergone acupuncture from a particular practitioner.
